Well, obviously I'm aware of that, but what's the worst thing that can happen when you're walking through town holding your girlfriends hand? People give you weird looks, mostly people you'll never see again. So, why care?

for the same reason that, even when going out alone, you dress nicely and wear make up

It'll sound odd, but I honestly don't dress up for other people. It makes me feel good. I could care less about people I'll never see again.

And that sounds like bullshit

i mean that whole "oh lol simply stop caring what strangers think of you" attitude is really cute and everything, but it's simply not realistic

Why would you be afraid to hold her hand? what are people going to do? Stone you?

Well gee kid, I don't know how to tell you this, but I'll just say it anyways. Many people don't like homosexuals, or look down upon them. This wouldn't be bad in itself, if it weren't for the fact that not being accepted or liked by others was considered a bad thing.

And what are the realities of being gay?

Yes, and how is it to be gay?

So far it has been fine, but I can only speak for myself... but it sucks being afraid to hold my girlfriend's hand in public or be closeted to certain people in certain circumstances.
