I just got an offer for a course in Archaeology and Geology at a University in Dublin...

I applied for it a few weeks ago when it appealed at the time, but I quickly lost interest in the idea of it - digging ditches, looking at old iron and shit, studying the boring celts, looking at rocks. I pictured the class full of men, hardly any girls, everyone a virgin and it being a real nerd convention.

I am genuinely too cool for that.

But I got the package of information from the college today, and the college looks really exciting. Theres a gym where I can get really cheap membership, there's lots of sports. Ill be staying on campus, not far from Dublin city centre.

It just looks really exciting - lots of people, lots of fun and just away from home.

The course is 3 years, and I could apply for the police afterwards. I wonder if it would be helpful in a police career...they say you need a degree to get to senior ranks. It doesn't specify a degree though...

I think I'm more attracted to the college rather than the degree. But history really interests me, so maybe its just the thought of who I'd end up with on the course.

I have till the 26th to decide.

What do you guys think?

I still want the Metropolitan police ultimately.

The first thing you should do is call the Metro Police Deptartment.  Ask them if the degree has to be specified in anything, or if any ole' degree will do.

You can learn how to dig up clues, at the scene of the crime

It sounds like a good offer, but I don't think it would have any beneficial impact on getting a job with the police.

Achaeology and Geology for police work?

hrrrrrm. can't see any benefit having a
bachelor (of whatever it is) in Achaeology and Geology can do with the police.

crinimanology and shit I see as a beter course for that
