In gym on Friday we are playing basketball. Basketball, besides boxing, is the number one sport where eye injuries occur. Each year 13,000 people go blind as a result of sports related eye injury. I also had LASIK surgery which makes my risk greater. But safety goggles are so dorky and I'm a girl. Should I wear safety goggles to my gym class or should I just skip gym?

lol, you should just play without the goggles. I'm pretty sure there's a 99.9% chance you wont go blind. My mom has had Lasik and she's never wore goggles for anything we do.

Hello, the LASIK flap could tear off.

Maybe if you got it done like a week ago. If you're going to live your life in fear now because something might happen to your eyes, it might not have been the best choice to have it done.

When I turn 21 I'm getting it done and sure I'll be careful the first few months afterward, but I really think it's unnecassary to take it to the point of wearing goggles.

Just say you're trying to make a statement. Find some really cool goggles and when you're not playing/on the bench wear them on you're head or round your neck.

You're playing basketball with a bunch of school kids. I hardly think anything will happen to make you blind. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. Relax.

You are totally the epitome of a pussy. It's fucking basketball. Damn.
