Ugh. I always thought that sororities and fraternities were supposed to reflect the best and the brightest in the university. And yes there are several honors fraternities, so if you were interested in that, that could be something to look into. But the people who make up the population of this greek life makes the Greek life look so bad...at least, if I was a mother with my child looking at several college options and saw a group of sorority girls being loud and obnoxious and acting like a bunch of giddy little prepubescent teens rather than a group representative of the campus community, I wouldn't let my teen go. It makes the school look bad.
your mistake was in thinking that they represented the brightest |

I am in a FRATERNITY, not a frat. I love it, and I never thought I'd like it. Sometimes you have to force yourself to do things you'd normally not be comfortable. Fraternities can be diverse, and unless you are an emo freak or nerd, they are usually pretty accomodating.

Fraternities take everything I love about college and everything I hate about it (few things) and mix them into one all-out fun thing. I probably won't join a frat, but many of my friends are in them, so it's all good.

Bahaha. Unanimous "no" so far. I'd never join a fraternity. And friends of mine say that they could never see me in one. Just isn't really my thing.

I'm not, but most of my friends are. Your percentage chance of getting in depend on the particular organization and your school.
