In a nutshell: My room-mate and i have been living together for a year and a half and our lease goes 6 more months. I resented moving out with her about 2 months after moving in together, but i renewed our lease for a second year just because i had no other affordable options. she is pretty much the worst roommate possible: lends my stuff to people i dont know without asking, got a cat even though i said no, the cat ruins my stuff and she doesnt even say sorry let alone replace it, borrows my things without asking then looses them then lies about borrowing them in the first place, not to mention the fact that i have done 90% of the housework while we've leived together and the 10% that she has done is only when i nag her for weeks and after she makes excuses about why she hasn't done her chores like "well if its my turn to do it then you should wake me up to tell me" (this is because she usually sleeps about 12-16 hours a day), she never has time to hang out with me but always has time to invite random guys over for the night ....you get the point...but other than that she's actually a nice person and i dont want to make an enemy, but i do want to move in with another friend when our lease is up this year. how can i tell her this nicely? if she asks why i dont want to live with her, is there anything i can say that is not complete bull shit but also doesnt offend or insult her? what do i do if she makes more excuses like o i'll try harder to help with housework (which she has done many times in the past with no success)? please help, especially if you have experience with this kind of situaiton! :)

I had the same problem this last year what I did was just told him I was moving to a 1 bedroom apt to concentrate on my studies more. Its easier just not to tell them, and PS it sounds like your roomate is a perfect match for my old one

just leave a note on her pillow that says:

You = homeless.

LMAO THAT'S HILARIOUS!!!

Um... say that it's time for you to start a new chapter of your life, and you can't do that if you still live with her. And if she has a problem with it, tell her to get a life.

Just tell her what you told us. That you feel like she is not the type of roommate that you need right now and you have found someone who you are more compatible with.

Why is it so hard? "Hey roomie I am going to be living somewhere else after our leasae is up, it's been fun, but I want to do something else".

i think you should list those situations for her, that pretty much explains itself.
