I'm on Spring Break right now luckily, so my roommate and I can't see each other.

I took some of her food, which I admit was wrong. She left me a note calling me out on it. She hardly ever sleeps in our room, because she usually stays at our boyfriends place. I didn't leave a note back, but was just going to apologize next time I saw her, because there wasn't much else I could do.

But I was angry at her, even though I was wrong, because she does tons of stuff that annoys me. So I wrote a really mean entry about her in my journal (which is just a normal spiral bound notebook) that I keep put away in my desk with all my other homework folders. She found it and read it, and wrote really mean replies to the things I said.

This was a week ago. She sent me an email apologizing for the mean things she said, but using as her defense "well, I was hurt." She hasn't been in our room while I was there since then.

I didn't leave the journal out for her to find. She wasn't suppossed to read it. My friends tell me she was wrong but I still feel bad...

Oh, I don't feel bad about eating her food anymore, really. I feel bad about writing mean things about her in my journal, because they were definitely an overreaction. Of course, now they're kind of justified.

She said in her email to me "oh i went to your desk and saw a notebook (which means she had to open a drawer) and thought it might be a journal and wanted to see if you wrote about the note I gave you."

Which sounds really suspicious to me, and makes me think she's been reading it for awhile.

It's not even that I want to confront her. I never want to see her again. But I know that's not possible. Still...what can I do?

You shouldn't feel bad. Big deal, you ate her food. That's something that can easily be replaced but she can't take back invading your privacy. But what's done is done, you can either move on and forget about it or be upset about it. I think it would be easier to just let it go. We all do stupid things when we're angry, even if it is over something stupid like food.

she was being a crazy bitch, why would someone read your journal because you ate some of her food?  unless she had been reading it for a while.....

She didn't apologize for reading my journal she apologized for going saying mean things to me in reply.

I'm just so angry and humiliated. This was the first entry I wrote after I lost my virginity, and she read that too (I can tell by stuff she mentioned in that note). Which was a very private entry.

Yeah that was an invasion of your privacy. She is pretty slack for doing that to you but she did apologize...Now you have to figure out whether the friendship is worth you accepting her apology or not...
