But I want to let her know that I like her and want to date her. So the next time I ask her out, should I throw in the word "date" in there? Or do I still have to keep playing games?

I wouldn't say I 'like' you though. That's very middle school and will scare a lot of college girls away. Just ask her out to dinner. And if she says 'like a date?'
