Replies samearths Posted at 3:19 am on May 8, 2009 I think you may want to see a financial aid counselor to discuss how, if at all, that non-Work-Study money might affect your next year's financial aid package. One of the advantages of Work-Study is the earnings are not counted as additional income on your FAFSA. Mine is accepted, but it's at zero, since I don't have a job that gives work study. In terms of loans, usually it depends on the loans.  If you take out the loan, then it will be like paying it back early if you decide not to take it... for me, as soon as I took my loans, it went through in full right to my tuition.  However, those loans do not charge a fee if you pay it back earlier than you have (some loans will charge you if you pay them back early because they lose out on interest). I think you can go through the counselling and not accept the loans yet.  I accepted my loans about 4 months into the semester, I believe...? But really, I'm not sure, I'm pretty new at this myself.  I would definitely consider talking to the financial aid department at school, they'll probably be able to answer all your questions, and how you can go about dealing with it and not having to deal with hassles.
