If anyone here has been an RA before and has experience working as one, please tell me...

What is the best advice you can ever give a NEW ra?  Like what to do, what mindgframe to go in it with?

I'm interested in being an RA next year! What type of residents are you getting? If you have a lot of freshman just make sure they know different opportunities and maybe tell them how to be involved. My RA's gave us good advice. But also, if you have older residents they probably just want someone who is friendly and does their job. I have heard of halls where the RA's didn't do anything. Try and plan some cool programs. Our hall really liked doing tye dye!! Also getting contact paper and doing a paint the hall night using that was fun!

Dont be an ass.

My RA was such a bitch....tried her damned best to get everyone written up.  Therefore, she was a victim of every single prank under the sun

Just be prepared to go with the flow. I always felt that the RAs that went into it with very specific plans and ideas for their hall had the most trouble when they saw that those games or activities didn't work with their hall. A hall is a group of individuals, and an important thing about being a good RA is understanding how to get through best to each of them.
