As I actually go there, I'm going to disagree. Dorm life really isn't bad here. Of course, you can't move off campus until senior year, so it means that the majority of the people you'd care to hang out with are close by. True, the parties are more sparse than at a large state school, but they are there, especially if you're in a frat. The thing is, dorm life doesn't mean that you'll have something to do at all times, and that you'll never find yourself bored. And living in them means living under the college's rules. You can meet a TON of people in the dorm, who turn out to be some really cool people (or some really douchebag-ish people, it depends. Usually there's a mix of both). For me, I didn't really meet anybody in my freshman dorm last year, but this year as a soph I met alot. Also helps if you're in a co-ed. All-girls dorms are too cliquey. Plus, being in dorms usually means you're really close to classes and other things like the student union, library, etc. However, I am living in an apartment with my cousin starting this summer, and it's going to be awesome. I've got my fill of dorm life, and while it was nice, it's time to move on from the tiny shared rooms and visitation hours and all the RULES.
