Everything needs a degree these days if you want to get anywhere in life. Nurses are being extremely well fresh out of college. Some hospitals are even paying $40,000 with moving expenses! Outrageous for just 3 years of nursing school, plus it can't be outsourced and the demand is increasing as more and more baby boomers need medical assistance. That could probably land you a decent paying job.  Maybe take the Civil Service Test and apply for a government job.  All you need is a HS Diploma, and a good score on the test to get the job.
