Like a living room and a kitchen.  You can lock your door if you need to separate yourself, or you can hang out in the living room.   And the best ways to help everyone stay sane is to keep an open mind with your room mates and try to pick up after yourself when you make a mess of the common areas. I did get lonely at first, but then I made some friends on my floor, so its better. Just keep the door open when you're there, so that people would know that you're there and willing to socialize. There were about 17 girls on my end of the floor and 25 guys down the hall. It was never lonely or boring.
