Or are you like most people who have no clue what's going on? I keep my saving spread about. Sometimes I'll invest in a Blue Chip company like Cadbury's, BP, or Pearson. Most of the time I'll be looking to save on direct debits, reducing my monthly payments, and taking a new bank account out with Alglo-Irish Bank. They're offering 5% bonds for a standard 12 months. Also spreading some money into Abbey Offshore, who are offering 6%-12%. The Euro is unwelcome even in my country. It's forced inflation up on the island where I used to live by 40% since January 2008. My reckoning is this April in the UK, income tax will come down. But only this year. Next tax year it'll be up higher again. It's good that petrol prices have lowered. 636lover Posted at 6:01 pm on Dec. 31, 2008 Well the economic troubles touched pretty close to home for me I kid you not, this morning a lot of people at my job got laid off and they gave them no prior warning or anything! My friend was one of those people who called and told me (I was off today). Luckily I'm not one of those people but I'm saving for college right now and i could really do with some stability in order to plan.
