So here's a poem I wrote out of boredom.

I came across a picture today
buried under birthdays
holidays
days I can't remember
or just don't want to

It was a picture of a room
All decked out in light pink
with frills everywhere
and a banner that said it all

And I thought to myself
What about the unborn me?

Would she be like me?
talk like me?
walk like me
act like me
not care like me?
or would she be different

would she make the same mistakes
day after day
hour after hour
would she have the power
to rise above?
to take a stand
to take note
and make a difference

Would she live for herself, or everyone else
would she occupy her mind
with the times
and pointless crimes
of civilization

would she be oppressed
supressed
distressed
stuck waist deep in the mess
or would she stand back
and let it all fall down around her

would she make me proud
would she be loud
if something wasn't right or fair
stand up and take charge
or be charged?

then I thought to myself
What about me?

would I make her proud?
16, bold
on a five year plan out of high school
I've done my time, but I still have more to do

would I make her proud?
would she see me at school
run up and hug me
or turn the other way
pretend I don't exist
pretend I have no say

So I say to all you out there
trying to be someone your not
letting the bad things slide
trying to get an easy ride
Life is tough
and if you don't step up
and make a name
and do it right
then you be just like me
I wouldn't make her proud

but that can change.
