Through the beginning of this story she explains life at her high school via explaining the people that go there. Her problems and the problems of others are explained when she gets hit by a softball in PE (it wasn't the hit to the head by the ball, but the impact of the ground when she fell) knocks her out where she dreams of her version of Wonderland. Her she learns the true reason for the behavior of some of the people she silently mocks and even how strong and brave they truly are.
