Seriously. Tell the owner of the establishment you want to volunteer. After getting the go ahead work hard. Work hard and take pride in your work. This is exactly how I got my paying job at the pet groomers/pet store/water garden store. I started out working for free and once the owner saw how I took pride in my work she became impressed and contacted the state to help pay my salary as I am disabled. So if you can't "degrade" yourself by starting out as a volunteer worker then you don't deserve a paying job.
