i have been working for this gym now since october of last year...

mon-fri i had to be here at 5:30AM, meaning my wakeup came at 4:30AM five days out of the week.

i am now moving out with my sister to our own apartment and we share the same car. RIGHT NOW we don't have a problem. mom takes her to work. i take our car. i applied at many different jobs to get a "normal schedule" because out of respect i didn't want to have her driving me to work at that hour so she could go to work at 10am.

we both applied at the same company on the same day and they hired her. she went to training and now works for them. they called me to hire me about a week ago and i did the drug test and passed.

i told my CURRENT boss that i would be putting in my two weeks because i found another job. she said it was fine and that was that.

YESTERDAY in the afternoon i get a call from the company that was hiring me...and they tell me they can't hire me because i have a "direct" family member who works there as well.

(i think that is bullshit, but anyway)

i tell my current employeer what happened and she tells me she already hired someone

so...not only will i not have a job in 2 weeks, but this is part II of my rant.

in american companies you can you "too immediate" of a family member to work in the same building but not immediate enough to be included in their health insurance.   FUCKING BULLSHIT

i know how you feel. my company will hire family members, but they can't work in the same department...
but most companies won't even do that...
it's completely stupid.

That's not entirely true about always being related and not working together. My mom works with a bunch of married couples. And, there are a lot of people who have kids that work as summer interns.

That is the past that kills me. She is my sister by BLOOD. So, yes we are related. Yet we are NOT "immediate" enough for me to be included in her health insurance, YET....if she were married....her husband would be eligible to be on there.

BUT we can't work together in the same building because of the company policy.

Interns don't get paid....so, I don't see why there would be a problem.

Yeah, I think it has alot to do with favoritism. If one of you were to get promoted and be working "above" the other, it wouldn't work out so well.

I work at a gym, too. Morning shift 4:45am-1:15pm. I feel ya, homes.

Try getting a job at another gym. I'm sure since you have experience they'll hire you.
