I always thought about joining a police force in the UK. The only 2 i was interested in were the Met and Greater Manchester Police...turns out both require that you have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to applying. 3 years is an awful long time to me...and what would i be doing.

The only police force ive found that doesnt require 3 years is the transport police, but i dont really want to join that, even as a stepping stone to the Met, because id hate to end up in some traonstation in the middle of nowhere, it would literally kill me. Even a tube station would be pretty bad.

Anyone got any ideas?

BTP is a damned good force, I know that. A lot of dedicated officers- and you tend to get free public transport :P

All policemen get free public transport...on the basis that any trouble they step in to help.

Nah, that's force specific.

Is it....ok well the Northumbria and the Metropolitan police all get free public transport.

I may be wrong, but i remember seeing some sort of course at college/uni you could do that lasts maby 2/3 years. A course that helps and gives you a better change of getting into the police force.

I'm not sure what to say. That's pretty standard stuff for police forces really. Live here for three years and then you're eligible.
