It was still pretty random for me and my roommate. We were at a scholarship day and asked if we were looking for roomies. She doesn't drink or smoke, I know she studies, which means that she will let me get my stuff done. We didn't know each other at all, but picked to be roomies-at least I know its someone thats not the total opposite of me. And I added a bunch of other freshman on facebook--kinda get to know people, find out if we have classes together, find carpools! and I think a group of us are going to a concert right before we move in to get to know each other more.

you dont have to pick a roommate but i think it would be a good idea to just start talkin to a few ppl. im goin out of state so i tried to make a couple of friends before hand and i made a few good ones that i actually already talk on the phone with so it could be a good idea.

Why is this topic requiring anonymous tag on it if you're merely voicing aloud? |

I'm currently talking to a few people on Facebook who will be going to my university next year, but I want my roommate to be completely random. Like you said, I don't want it to be my fault if I end up hating the roommate I'm stuck with for the entire year.

I spoke to loads of people I'd be living with on facebook before I went to university. It's a good idea actually.

Well I guess you could probably join a group and talk to people but you don't necessarily have to choose a roommate over facebook :P I wouldn't. haha
