I have never had a pap smear, but have gone with my mom and she has explained what it consists of. Right now, I have a huge anxiety problem which I am trying to control with medication.   My mom had ovarian and uterine cancer, so my doctor is sending me to a OB/GYN to get a pap smear. I can't do it. I don't trust doctors at all and this isn't something you can bring a friend to for support. I had a situation where I was raped and molested as a child, and if I go, I think I will have a panic attack. I am already having great distress. But I have to go to make sure my likelihood of me getting ovarian and uterine cancer and to make sure I don't get it. I don't know what to do. I am really upset. I don't think I can handle that situation. What should I do? Please don't say, "Just go and get it over with!", you guys really don't understand what a problem this is. If you ever had a panic attack, I think you would understand more.

Telling yourself that will only make it harder. As tough as it seems, try to stay optimistic. Honey, If you were raped and molested OF COURSE you feel that way, It's totally natural. Maybe if you closed your eyes? Or had a close girlfriend come with you? That's what I would do.
