I've had low self esteem and a large amount of self hatred for as long as I can remember. I never told my parents because I didn't want them to go crazy on me, so I found different ways to cope and get through those times that I thought were so tough that I couldn't make it. Now that I'm old enough to go to the doctor without a parent and have my medical records seen by me only, I'm considering getting medicine.

How has your anti-depressant helped you? Is it worth it to get on them? I've heard of some negative side effects, sexually, and I really don't want that to happen.. What are your thoughts?

Having a few bad side-effects is better that constantly being depressed as far as I'm concerned. If I were you, I would go ahead and get the medication. Your life will be a lot happier with it.

yea, they had no effect on me happyness wise. they DO work for some people though, may as well give it a shot. lots of people are on them

i've been all over the place on anti deppressants and mood stabalizers. side effects sucked for me. over eating, no eating/apetite, no sleeping, too much sleeping, sweating, feeling "electric shocks", and not being able to breathe.

and DO NOT DO SEREQUEL. it makes you a zombie. i had no personality at all while i was on it.

I was suppose to be on anti depressants a long time ago and I denied them because I know people who depend on them and I don't like depending on pills.
