My college has a counseling center...It's free and it sounds like something i am kind of ready for.  I dont have any major issues, but there are things I woulld like to talk about and have some feedback/help with.

In your experiene, is seeing a counselor a few times a beneficial thing?  Any negative things? Waste of time?

What if your problems are so small you shouldn't really call them problems, but there just seems like so many of them. If you did talk to a counsellor about this type of thing, they wouldn't be thinking things like, "Well, this is a waste of time, I could be helping people that have real problems, would they?

Counselors are very helpful if you find the right one and want to LET them help you. You have to trust them and take their opinions seriously in order for you to be able to make change in your life and step over the depression line. I was semi-depressed for a while and talked to an online counselor via email and it was the best thing I could have done! Just dont take any medication before trying to talk to someone to sort out your emotional portion of things.

I went to my college counselor for a bit of advice not too long ago. I talked to ONE guy--the lead counselor.

Bad move.

1). He asked me about a Public Speaking class I'd have to take, and I told him that I didn't like public speaking...I get 'stage freight'...and he goes on to tell me that I have a damn Speech Impediment. Right, I have no stuttering or anything; and just because I don't like to speak in public, I apparently have a speech impediment.

2). At the beginning of the session, he said all that was talked about in there would be kept confidential. Two days after my visit, I get a call from some woman HE TALKED TO, and she wanted me to come in and talk to her. Riiiight...so much for keeping your word there, Counselor.

3). The guy just creeped me out. Most counselors do. They have that crazy stare...and just stare you up and down. I don't like it.

In my opinion, they are NOT the best people to go to.

They're fine if you just want to get your feelings out, and don't have anyone else to tell them to. In experience, that's all they're really good at, but most of the time it DOES help to get shit out and not hold it in, but if you're fishing for really good advice, I've never got any from one.

Yes. I went to high school counseling and also did some training as a counselor-feel free to message me about stuff you want to talk about-it doesnt have to be big, everybody needs to talk at some point

Peace and Blessings
