I have been struggling in college since I got in. I have always worked my butt off in high school even though I only had a 3.4. Now that I am in college, I have a 2.6 in spite of being the most hardworking individual I know. I have just been diagnosed with ADD and an LD (learning disability), but knowing this doesn't help. I've tried medication, and I hate it--it's ineffective. I still can't ever get anything done and I'm terribly behind in class readings. My mind is all over the place and my obliviousness and absentmindedness agitates everyone around me. My friends are loyal, but I think I'm beginning to seam like a lost cause to them. I myself am starting to believe that I must accept my inevitable fate as a loser and idiot. I can never accomplish anything. I work so hard, but I wish days were 10X longer than they are, now. I don't know what to do. I feel like shit and I'm tired of being so depressed. I'm tired of barely passing classes when the amount of effort I put in should put me at a 5.0, if there was such a GPA.

I'm in the same situation, but I refuse to seek medical attention because these drugs have screwed up my brothers life and lead him into a deeper whole then just add/adhd and i dont want anything to do with it although I think I may have it my life it just like you have discribed yours atm.

With an attitude as negative as yours, it's no wonder your sucking so bad.

You need to cheer up and realize you can overcome it. I have ADHD myself and I'm doing okay, I think. =)

We can't all be perfect, maybe your not all that book smart, but I'm sure you make up for it.

Either I'm jolly, or I'm way down. I am sick and tired of telling myself that there's another day for change, screw up yet again, and feel like a future Chris Gardner. People tell me I'm brilliant, although I really don't feel like it when reality hits. I'm not always negative; there's only so much a person can take before frustration overflows.

NO. I am almost EXACTLY in your spot right now. I had a 3.4 in high school with AP classes and such. Scraped by but I knew I could do better. THen came college and I just couldn't do it. I had to temporarily withdraw and am now getting diagnosed with ADD.

My advice: try different medication. There are many out there and chances are there's one likely to suit you well.

I'm hoping to pick up new meds Monday afternoon. Ritalin totally messes me up.

I wish that all will go well for you. WE CAN DAMN DO THIS! ...I hope. I'm just running out of steam....

Not all ADD is the same.
