Be responsible, show your parents you can be your own person without getting into trouble. Find something productive or at the very least not harmful that you can do away from your parents. Anyway you sound like one who doesn't want something else defining them, and gangs would definitely do that. Your parents didn't made what you're, they might had some influence, but not 100%, so if you think your parents mad your identity, that's probably cuz you let them do it.
