If I continue this stupid habit of mine.  Like most college students we tend to slack off here and there when we have to work.  I feel that I have gone way over board.  In my current state I cannot settle down at all.  I've gone so far as to uninstall aim, pc games, cancel social meetings, anything that would distract me from doing work.  Nothing has work as my brain finds something creative to keep me distracted.

It would be so easy to blame this on ADD, but I'm sure I don't have that.  Guys, I have alot on the line when I decided to attend college, and I cannot let myself go to waste simply because I can't maintain focus.  Simply put, the level of severity is just too high, I just can't think of any other way to describe how destructive this habit of mine is.  It is placing an emotional and physical strain on me.  Can anyone please share as to how they're able overcome those pesky distraction and concentrate to get anything done?

Hah, you sound like me.  Honestly, I've got no real idea how to do it.  Maybe you have to "will" yourself to do it or maybe I need stronger meds.  Turns out mine was also partially due to anxiety, stress, depression all playing a factor in how I seldom would study or care to even think about studying until the night before/hour before an exam.  And even then it would be a half-assed job.  But ya know, like Blind Melon says: When life is hard you have to change."

thx for the inputs.  I would like to avoid drugs but if I cannot find any other plausible solution, I will speak with a doctor.

It is just so damn frustrating, my family depends on me to succeed in school and have high expectations of me.  Knowing that, I should be able to buckle down and get my act together, but I just can't.  It almost hurts to try and push myself to read 3 chapters of assigned reading.  And after a day of accomplishing nothing, the pain just builds.

I get spells of anxiety a lot, where I can't focus on any one thing. That's gotten me into a lot of trouble when finals come around. Good help for me has been meditation techniques and putting on good, upbeat music when I need to sit down and work.

You may need the help of medication to help you concentrate.
