Can I live life as sinful as possible and still go to heaven when I repent just before I die?

This naturally assumes I will be conscious of the fact that I am going to die soon.

There's a difference between actually trying and saying, "Oh la, I'll just repent on my deathbed and be fine, so I can do whatever I want!"

Well there are is the criminal who was crucified with Jesus and had a successful deathbed repentance. I would say that fear of death would not be a 'sincere' enough reason to repent, since instead of regretting your sins because they violated Gods laws, you would instead be regretting your sins because you want to live forever. A real discussion would be mounted in too much theology for me to speak intelligibly on.

Why are people Christian's anyways? Right, because they fear death, that among other reasons. I wouldn't be merely repenting to "live forever" but because I wanted to erase my sins as I was unable to live justly.

That doesn't seem terribly sincere to me; if you were really interested in living justly, you would have worried about it before you were taking your dying breaths.

Say one IS concerned, but simply cannot live justly. One can be sincere in saying, "I tried living justly but failed" and ask for forgiveness.

It seems that between confession and repentance, Christians can do just about anything, and get away with it. Must be nice to have this get out of jail free card.

I would think an all knowing God would listen to what's in your head and not the words that come from your mouth.

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Well planning your repentance is a sign that you are not truly repenting.

I would say you got a 10 percent chance of getting into the sky kingdom.

Your reasoning seems a tad off to me. Planning my repentance now means that I am not repenting now. I am not sorry for my sins, therefore I am not saved even though I believe.

However, planning to repent before my departure does not mean I should naturally end up in hell. TOH pointed out out that sincerity in repentance is absolutely necessary and I think many people are capable of that because the reality of mortality brings upon a change in thinking. Considering that, if I do indeed end up with moments to spare before my death and I genuinely believe and repent then that puts me and many people at a 100% fix on heaven.

Sure.....call a preacher into your home or hospital and give him a $25,000 check and ask him to assist you in repenting. Now for $25,000 you can go out tonight and do anything you want to and when the preacher gets through with you I think you will die with a comforting smile on your face. Of course in your mind you have repented but in actuality its all the pain and suffering you have caused to those that are living.

It's all about money!

Now, in my opinion, all those people that you have created pain and grief from your sorry life will remember you as a horrible person. That puts your soul in hell.

You seem to be suffering from obsessive delusions about money. Did a priest happen to steal from your bank account, perchance?

Why do people think they can consciously do whatever the hell they want and then sincerely repent when they die? If they were so fucking sincere about it, they probably would have repented earlier.

I tend to agree with the sentiment, but keep in mind that perspective tends to change when one is dying. I feel that most people when faced with their mortality can be very sincere.

Also from Biblical Scripture you have the passage (perhaps more that I am unaware of) where it is specified that repentance for past sins and faith in God brings salvation. That coupled with genuineness of repentance covers the deathbed scenario.
