How do you feel when you hear that phrase? I heard it from a movie and it spoke volumes to me. I think I gave up on faith a while ago.

It reminds me that the Appeal to Emotion is a logical fallacy.

God has allowed man to have free will, and that is what people have done with it. Evil acts in no way disprove God...

agreed

I agree as well.

I find it amusing, because the existence of a horrible place has nothing to do with the existence, or lack thereof, of any deity.

God gave us free will.  Blame people for the evil that they do.  Not God.

if we had no free will, we wouldnt notice it, it would be "feel" the same as living with free will

We would be nothing more than puppets. I don't think that'd feel the same.

Besides, God created us to worship and honour him. Those two things, along with faith in his existence, cannot arise if we don't have free will. Our entire existence would be null and void.

 FP

you would feel the same because its impossible to know whether you have free will or not

Exactly. One would surmise, "I can go to the store OR stay home. I must have free will."

However, it's a catch 22. Whatever you do is what god made you do. Whatever you think is what god made you thought. T'is the illusion of free will, and there is no way to prove or disprove it.

i think god is an asshole though, he knew by giving free will he would be screwing alot of people over, and in  a way its his fault; we are like his naughty children

And he also know all the good that could come out of it.

There were two options: we have free will, and will occasionally abuse it, or we don't, and are the drones of God.

Quite frankly, God would be more of an asshole by forcing the latter.

happy robots, then he could turn on our free will when we got to heaven?

Khadgar Posted at 8:54 am on Sep. 9, 2008
I always turned on Free Will, otherwise my sims were boring after about 5 minutes. It was always more fun to watch them go bolting through the hallway to the kitchen to grab 8 bags of chips from the fridge and spend all that money on replenishing their hunger meter by only half when in the same amount of time they could have prepared a meal for the entire family and NOT littered the floor with garbage.

Way more fun that way.

I always find it odd. It is not like Auschwitz was the first terrible thing to have happened.

Agreed. Salem Witch Trials, anyone?

FP

or a million other atrocities that have existed since before the recorded history of man?

So long as there are men there will be wars-Albert Einstein.

Honestly I find this quote much more profound than the one in the OP
