In church they do NOT teach about masturbation or if it is a sin or not.  Most people relate masturabation in the bible back to Onan... in the bible it says God killed him for "spilling his seed on the ground" or ejaculating. Most christians interpret this as him masturbating & it was followed by ejaculation which lead to God killing him for his act.  Before i became a christian i would masturbate & look at porn with no guilt. Now that i am a  christian i have those days where i am cant control my desires  so i masturbate but it has become extremely unenjoyable because i feel guilt about it.  What do you guys think about masturbation & christianity ... both christians & non-christians?  is it a sin? did god create it to keep us from the sin of pre-marital sex?

Replies nik1 Posted at 2:21 am on July 5, 2009 You have permitted Christianity to dominate your thought processes.  It's called brainwashing for control.  God (whatever it is to you) gave you a brain to think with and relieving yourself is a natural body function.  If you aren't forcing yourself on someone else or publicly displaying the act I hardly see it's an issue you should be concerned with.  I don't recall seeing "Thou shalt not spank the monkey" as one of the Ten Commandments. Standard Christian thought is that God killed Onan because he was only meant to fuck his dead brothers wife so they could have kids (specifically a son) as an heir to his dead brother (it had to do with property rights if i recall). So anyway, Onan was having none of that shit but he still wanted to have sex with his brothers widow (so he comes up with this brilliant plan of 'spilling his seed') ; and true to form God kills him off. So you've got no issues with that story, as for the wanking most Christians are ok with that these days but not with porn, that's because you're somehow meant to masturbate without lusting. Maybe they literally meant "Don't spill your seed on the ground".
