Her:

So one: What do you "know" about demonic possession that makes you so much more of an expert than those who've studied the idea of demonic possession far longer than you have and come to the conclusion that it's all bullshit?

Two: Can you prove that you actually have magic(k)al powers? If so, please do so.

Me:

I never said that I was anything more or less than anyone, at all in this entire thread.

Someone coming to the conclusion that something is bullshit does not make it bullshit. Someone having an opinion does not instantaniously make it a fact.

Therefore, my beliefs are just that..My opinion and I would not expect anyone to believe them just because I say so.

Now then, I believe in demonic posession because I have studied it all of my life, and, I have seen them myself. I practice Satanism as well as other things. My beliefs are my own and I am entitled to them.

Magic? Yeah it exists. Anyone can practice it, not everyone is good at it. You either have it or you do not. Alot of people go through their lives with the power inside of them and then never bring it out either unknowing that they have it or no desire to do so.

Can I prove that it exists? To some. In person. Yes. On the fucking internet? Probably not.

I don't know what you want from me but my beliefs are that of many around the world and I could care less if you believe or not and I have never tried to make you.

All people who believe that God "created the world" from nothing and did so by saying "let their be light" etc believe in magic and they don't even realize it.

They believe God came and cast a spell that created the universe, so they really have no room to criticize you for believing in magic either.

Only if you operate in a world where magic = the supernatural. I suppose you could treat it that way, but typically magic refers to the drawing on or channeling of external powers. That in no way describes a creationist perspective of the power of God. You grossly oversimplify.

Magic cannot possible be non-supernatural, since it is in principle unpredictable.

Now then, this I can respect but with that in mind, why the hell would you make statements like:

Magic? Yeah it exists. Anyone can practice it, not everyone is good at it. You either have it or you do not... [yadda yadda] ... Can I prove that it exists? To some. In person. Yes. On the fucking internet? Probably not.

if you are on the internet? How are you expecting people to react if you say things like that? It's like me saying I'm a ninth grade, traditionally trained insanely lethal ninja who trained all my life in the isolated mountains of rural Japan 'til I came to England... but I can't prove it on the internet. At worst you're inviting skepticism, at best people can only give you the benefit of the doubt but still not comment (since 99.9% of us here aren't magick practitioners or feudal ninjas, so what could we possibly offer?).

p.s I am not actually a ninth grade ninja; my ninja skillz r mediocre @ best

It was a nice try dear.
Maybe next time.

You came here wanting to tell LW that it's real though, and that you have good reason to believe so. But then you refrained from going into it, and you only made this topic because you were pressed.

Did you only want to state your opinion or did you want to tell people thoroughly what you believe and why?

Hello,

What scientific evidence is there for demonic possessions? What scientific evidence is there for demons to begin with?

You don't seem to understand that you CANNOT choose your own facts the same way you can choose what position to believe.

If you did not care about what she believed, why make another topic about it?

I'd still like my second question answered:

Who exactly have you studied in the field of demonology? Would you mind giving me names and titles of books?
Event Horizon Posted at 6:01 pm on July 6, 2009
If I met you in person, what kind of things would you do to prove to me that you have magic? What tricks do you have up your spooky sleeve?
The Immortal Lie Posted at 5:50 pm on July 6, 2009

Those aren't my minions.

And, really, can you blame them? Nobody's ever been able to prove otherwise, and you didn't even try to prove otherwise. As you implied, simply saying that magic exists isn't enough to warrant it being the truth.

Ohhhhh you're my best friend, in a world we must defend! WICCAMON!!!

Just being a good minion
As for the post itself, I'm most interested in:

Let's imagine we were to meet you in person, what kind of magic would you be able to show us? Are we talking an observable Harry Potter-esque spectacular; or some vague spell-type-thing where we're meant to believe that something actually happened, based on nothing more than your say-so.
exceedinglyrare Posted at 4:47 pm on July 5, 2009
Which is really an argument that isn't going to fly for anyone who doesn't believe things that cannot be proven (e.g. a whole lot of people).

Meh. I don't really care to debate the issue because trying to have a discussion with you is somewhat akin to trying to convince an egg to grow hair--it just doesn't work--but thank you for finally getting around to at least attempting to answer the questions posed to you. If you don't mind answering one more: who exactly have you studied in the field of demonology? Would you mind giving me names and titles of books?

(also, just a point that no one is saying that you can't hold your beliefs or even that your beliefs are wrong; people are simply asking what evidence you have for those beliefs, so calm your ass down)

Well, you tried.

(for the record, I have no minions here)

It was for the general population of people who are delusional enough to believe that simply saying that magic doesn't exist is enough to warrant it being the truth..
