Sex in religion; a cliche made in heaven.

Mormons (even proper, mainstream, LDS ones) believe Jehovah has multiple wives with whom he does or has done the nasty.

A plural marriage (one husband only of course) mirrors Jehovah's supposed spiritual family.

I am polyamorous, but also Atheist. I do not see how me having many partners if I choose to would bring me closer to God.

Ditto on both counts, but as long as their husband is fine with sharing her with other men (otherwise it's polygyny and... yeah), I guess it wouldn't be all that different from any other kind of polyfidelity

assuming, as is implied, that the relationship is polygynous, do you consider that intrinsically problematic or merely suspect?

Intrinsic. Multiple relationships rely on openness, not restricting one gender but not another.

That makes sense

its a very complicated thought process that includes the idea that the family you create here on earth is your family in heaven, and lots of other strange thoughts.

If this is a FLDS reference, I remember reading that they are building their "celestial army" for God, which is accomplished by having as many children as possible.

More children=Larger celestial army=Happy God.

So, in a sense, according to their beliefs, yes, sharing your husband does in fact bring you closer to God.

More like excessive breeding and making the earth more overpopulated.

Yea, I don't understand the religious aspect.
