When I was younger I was brought up in the Catholic church. I called myself Christian.  In my early 20's I decided to read the bible to see what it had to say. I read it from the beginning to the end.  When I finished reading it through, the first thing I thought was, "Well, I can't be Catholic anymore." Why? Because the Catholic faith doesn't go by what's in the bible.  They seem to follow more of their own traditions and laws. They pray to Saints.  The bible says "there is ONE mediator between man and God, Christ Jesus."  They pray to Mary.  The bible says to pray to God alone.  They taught me that Mary was a virgin all her life.  The bible says that Jesus had siblings. Oh, I could go on and on and on.  Point is: calling yourself Christian doesn't make you one.  One is a Christian when he/she believes in Jesus as their Savior from death. When he/she talks to God and builds a relationship with him, then he's a Christian.  This is what's called being born again.  So, many people "say" they're Christians, but they're really not. If you are truly a Christian, killing a baby would never enter your mind. When I was younger and said I was a Christian, I wasn't one at all.  I had not been born again yet. I even considered having an abortion back then. Now, I truly can say I am a Christian and know that I am, and would never even think about having an abortion. This country has many Catholics. Most don't obey God.  They are Christians in name only.  That's why the abortion numbers are high for Christian women. They're not really true believers(Christians)  If they were, they wouldn't murder children.

Around 80% of women in the US are Christians and the correlation between Christianity and opposition to abortion is by no means absolute.

If so and the OP's stat on 70% of abortions being done in the US by Christian women, that means Christians are underrepresented when it comes to abortions.  In other words, any given Christian woman is less likely to abort a fetus than any given non-Christian woman.

The whole premise behind the OP's question is contradicted, because being Christian seems to be negatively correlated with getting an abortion.

The most religious states typically have higher rates of abortion, crime, teen pregnancy, etc. Apparently god's favor does wonderful things for the health.

Because 'Christian' can mean anything to an individual who puts it on their census form. Or any form for that matter. Saying you are Christian does not mean you are testifying to regular church attendance, Bible study and strict personal adherence to Christian lifestyle, in the conservative sense of the term.

Only guessing but I assume most of the people that put that as their religion ink it on the dotted line and that is about it.
