I am posting this to see if anyone knows how to smoke weed and not have a panic attack. I have been smoking weed for a little time now, and 9 times out of 10 it gives me a panic attack. My eyes start to feel really weird, everything (including me) starts moving in slow motion. I start to feel scary things in my body (veins pulsing, head throbbing, fast heartbeat, etc). I don't think that this should be happening to me everytime I smoke weed. Only two times did weed make me feel normal. I took about 2-5 hits and it just made my eyes low, I was very hungry, and I would laugh at random shit. I don't think this is normal and I want to be able to smoke weed and feel like everyone else does. How do I do this? And please don't post telling me to not smoke weed because I will do it regardless. All answers are greatly appreciated.

It's just the way you are. Maybe you are nervous about something before hand? Nervous something may go wrong? Nervous you may get caught? Get negative things off your mind. Be excited to enjoy the weed. That's all I really can say about this. It's different for everyone.

I got those and it still happens time to time. I used to smoke like a king and smoke a 1/4 a night at the VERY least. Eventually I started getting panic attacks when I started new prescriptions.

I can still smoke weed but they key is low doses. Only a few tokes of a joint. Or one or two hits off a bong. I used to smoke by myself but for some odd reason I can't anymore or I get panic attacks. I smoke only around friends now and I feel much better anyways. It used to take me a 1/4 to get high and now it takes less than a gram to get me completely f'ed up but good.

It was hard for me to cut down. I used to smoke two Bob Marley joints a night. They are effing huge, like four regular sized lengths and three times as thick. Pipe bowls are a good way to cut down.

Come to peace with it, experience helps also. Take it slow, one hit at a time and only inhale so much.

But that sounds normal to me, that is what used to happen when I first started smoking. Man was that great, I miss the laughs for no reason and the slow motion(frames) with feeling really heavy at times where I wouldn't\couldn't get up. Then noticing yourself(like heartbeats, w/e)I also had, but it never really made me scared I just ignorned it untill I was "normal" again. It wouldn't last long if I just forgot about it, but if I dwelled on it, then it would get worse.

All that's happening though is your getting high, which is actually making you focus more creating a panic attack since the high is obviously foreign to you. You just have to remember that your getting high to be happy, so you want try to think happy thoughts and put yourself in a happy mood before hand if your not already. But not a forced fake mood though.

Personally, I miss the old days, that high was much more foreign and new. The laughs were the best, such a blast with friends. Really makes you go retarded for a minute, laughing at nothing and at really dumb things.

That soon changed a year(months?) later with tolerance and just growing. It's been a loonngg time now but it does not matter if I stop for a long time or not, I can't get those effects back.

i myself have panic disorder and have had several panic attacks(not neccesarily from smoking weed, but they are much more intense when you are high).. my advice to you.... relax man if your nervous before you smoke, than you're just going to be paranoid when you are high... also you said you're fairly new to smoking... smoke till you feel good, dont try and out smoke you're friends if they have been smoking for awhile.. don't be in an environment where you may get caught also its best that you probably dont smoke out of a bong for awhile... if you do have a panic attack start up a conversation your interested or watch a movie you like to take your mind off it...

Does that mean it increases anxiety for you when you smoke weed?  

It sounds like you're really sensitive to the 'hallucinagen' aspect of it, and that the sedating effect isn't kicking in. I think you should stop. Are you prone to panic attacks in normal, sober life?  

You can try different varieties if you really want.. but sounds like a bad idea to me.

Edit: Or take less like others said but I dunno why you'd start off that high if less did any good..

I get them, too I just have to be so careful with the amount I smoke. Can only have like one hit and then wait ages.

panic attacks are just a side effect. ur probably one of those ppl that just shouldn't smoke it

getting hungry and laughing at random shit is normal. The panic attacks may definatly be from smoking too much weed or smoking out of a device that gets you too high. What do u smoke out of try smoking joints or out of a pipe if your smoking out of a bong, aluminmum cans are bad for you too. It could be your smoking way too intense weed also...good luck and have fun, oh and yes, weed is a gateway drug no matter what you think. Sometime in the future you will try something else..

I've only once had a panic attack from smoking weed,
it would of happened anyway but it was more exagerated because of the weed. I cant handle enclosed spaces.

this used to happen to me too... definitely try smoking less, you need to build up to it. Most nights I'll only have like 2 or 3 tokes, which will get me at a cozy level of high : )
Just relax and don't think about it.. laugh with your friends, watch a movie, or something. Don't just sit there and think about it.
