"Dip" is sometimes the slang term for phencyclidine (PCP).  It's also called Angel Dust and Sherm and even "Mescaline" in Montreal.

dip?
Micus Posted at 7:39 am on Nov. 19, 2008
I really doubt dip has THAT much of an effect on one's psyche.

From chewing tobacco? I don't see how it would lead to psychosis (schizophrenia is a kind of psychosis: and it's "psychosis". "Psychotic" is in a state of having psychosis). He/she might get withdrawls from the tobacco but no lasting mental illnesses from tobacco itself.

By the way, you don't mean dissociative identity disorder do you? Split personalities? Because that's not psychosis.

I suppose there's a chance that your mate has developed a mental illness independent of his/her using dip. Meh.
