I'm not sure what being a member entails, but if you look to the right side of the page, there are updates of upcoming legislation votes, as well as ones that have been denied. An easy way to start off would to be to keep updated on those, and use them to create awareness flyers / petitions etc. It's a start. Also, check out here for activist happenings, and lists of several other activst groups.
