| It and its safer benzo friends (clonazepam, lorazepam, etc.) have amazing anti-anxiety effects that outweigh the recreational potential. Heck, I am on Klonopin right now and am functioning fine, but two hours ago, I was in a hell of a paralyzing panic attack. |

| Yeah I think Aphex Twin is right about them just fading out into "past medications" .... Not necessarily become illegal. I wasn't sure about how much research had been done on the drug, but apparently it's been extensive over several decades. |

Why does Xanax XR look like a tribute to ecstacy? Single, double, and triple stacks, even!
Lol the more products they make the more money they make. Especially considering pharmaceutical companies pay anyone with a scrip pad under the table to hand these fuckers out like candy. Does anyone think Xanax will be illegal someday? I really think that shit is going to be banned eventually.
Xanax and most other benzodiazepines, especially the ones used as anxiolytics and hypnotics, will eventually go the way of barbiturates and fall into obscurity and only ever be used as third-line treatments. I really doubt that Xanax will ever be banned though, it's just too effective as an anxiolytic and its misuse / abuse potential isn't really all that high. |

| Ugh, I saw that, too. How ridiculous, that the FDA now has to pursue Tylenol for something to do. Seems the only real problem it would be though was with opiates and DXM, in which I'd seen it used as a deterrent for abuse in both. |

because what you're suggesting also assumes that the government gives two shits about us.
Haha good point. Alprazolam was released in 1981 according to Wikipedia, but filed a patent all the way back in 1969... So I guess there has been significant research done on it (toying with the idea that something hideous could come from use after long term). Things do change though, I just saw a recent article about the FDA beginning to lower the max about of Acetaminophen in certain pills.... And that shit has been around for ever. |

| Going through the trouble of growing cocaine and extracting it would probably be more difficult than it would to synthesize alprazolam. Maybe if the stuff was illegal, it might be marginally easier. But seriously, if people could grow coke like weed, on a practical basis, do you think it would be so highly priced? People would sell it cheaper trying to get rid of it, especially if one person could grow their own for personal use. But as far as being banned, the fact that they're legal now gives them less probability of being banned. I'm sure you've heard of the effects of prohibition. The government lost so much control that they HAD to re-legalize alcohol. While it might not occur on that scale, it doesn't seem consistent with anything the government would do, because what you're suggesting also assumes that the government gives two shits about us. |

Naw. Too many people are addicted/abuse them. And even if they became illegal, I would expect them to be something like coke, which has a ridiculously wide availability considering the legal implications.
Thats all the more reasoning for them to be banned eventually. And the supply wouldn't be around forever... You can grow cocaine. You can't grow Alprazolam (as far as I know) |

| Thanks for that picture. Makes a lot of sense now cause somebody was talking about triangle shaped xanax and I didn't know what the fuck they were talking about. |
