Hey, im gonna be entering my senior year this year, and I would really love to experience the thrill of varsity football, but I havnt played at the high school level at all. I played football from 1st to 8th grade, but due to different conflicts i couldnt play in high school. I was thinking about asking the coach this week (they open the weight room over the summer) if i could join the team. I know that chances are I wont get to play and it wouldnt really be fair to the kids who have been in it all throughout highschool, but can the coach legally deny me entrance into the team? I am a very timid person social wise, and if i know that there is a chance of me getting rejected in any form or fashion, i just wont do it, so be honest with me.. I would really like to play, but it would suck if he said NO GTFO NOW

Well then it's a walk on team, so he shouldn't be allowed to tell you no, unless their season started.

They dont have try outs though, because in 9th grade I asked the head coach at that time, and all he said was work my ass off and show up for the two a days. But then i chickened out at the last minute and just blew it off...

I know college coaches can say know since its a private school, but high school football is a public thing isnt it?

he can't say no just by looking at you, but after try-outs you can get cut

just ask the coach don't be afraid

our school seniors got first tryouts & "automatic acceptance"..that didn't mean they would play. were were the district champs 8 years running...go for it! at least you can say you tried, looks good for college too.

Just try it out. The worst that can happen is that you don't get to play, but at least you tried. I'm sure the coach isn't going to say "NO GTFO NOW"

idk..you never know until you try and fyi nobody can tell you what he will say on here unless its him himself b/c every school and every coach is diff!
