Article
this article shows how some sports shouldnt count because of the judging. These sports have been around for a while in the olympics so just because USA is loosing in the gold medal standings you can take it out??
the chinese gymnast won gold yesterday because she won the tiebreaker ove a USA gymnast and the NBC announcers couldnt accept defeat they kept raving about how the tie breaker is incorrect blah blah blah. WHO CARES JUST ACCEPT DEFEAT the judges would know more about gymnastics than them so they need to respect the other gymnast because she won fairly
also, why didnt they argue the micheal phelps race because it also looked like a tie between him and the othe swimmer from serbia.
I bet if USA was leading in the gold medal race you wouldnt find any complaints with judging
All i know is that chinese girl is not 16, its just not possible. Plus who complains when they win, imagine Phelps saying being pissed hes got the most gold medals.
They don't have to be 16 yet. They have to be 16 the year OF the Olympics. So they technically could be born up until 11:59 on December 31st.
Also, it's competely speculative. You don't know anything. Just because she looks young doesn't mean she is. Shawn Johnson looks about 12. I know people who are 27 and 34, respectively, and they look 18 and 20. Not to mention Chelsey Memmel.
Asians also tend to look younger than they are, I find.
Until there's proof, don't go around spreading rumours. It's slander.
Maybe I'm over analyzing this, but IMO it's more evidence of America's prideful attitude Article this article shows how some sports shouldnt count because of the judging. There were several cases where the judges clearly made mistakes (whether on purpose or accidental) in the scoring.
Of course we wouldn't find any complaints if we hadn't one. That doesn't make the complaints unlegit though.
Now I personally, thought that Nastia should have at least tied. HOWEVER, difficulty of skills matters as well. You can be a diver and get 10.0s on an easy dive and another diver can get 7.0s on an incredible difficult dive and beat you.
THAT is why the Chinese girl won. Is because the difficulty was taken into account.
If it were a case of Jamie Sale and David Pelletier in Salt Lake, where the difficulty level was higher AND the performance was flawless vs. a lower difficulty routine a fall (the Russians) that beat them, THEN it would be a serious travesty.
But the Chinese girl had higher difficulty and she ended up with a higher execution score (the B score) which is why she won. If tied, the B score is used.
why are you complaining? The onlything that matters is USA is kicking ass
Not really. Look at the gold differential. It's fucking huge.
Furthermore, a bad call should be pointed out independent of who is winning or losing. The system designed was bad. It should have come down to a tie breaker decided by another routine, not a computer formula.
come on, this isn't the USOC complaining.
regarding the gymnast who fell during vault: imo it's not necessarily the judges' fault, it's the FIG's fault for having a system that allows for that to happen without a complete uproar. obviously the landing shouldn't be everything, but i think it should be more significant than it is, if it currently allows for this to happen.
Did you actually watch the gymnastics? It was glaringly obvious that it was a judging error....? And how exactly can you tell the difference between a race where the difference was .01 seconds? You must have some pretty insane superpowers.

X2
Both Nastia and the Chinese gymnast did exceptionally well on the uneven bars, however, the Chinese girl not only made the same small error during her routine as Nastia [which was the only visible error Nastia made] but also took a step after she landed. Watch some clips, it is blatantly obvious that in that case [and in the vault, where the chinese girl FELL on her knee's and still won] that there was judging Error [deserving of a capitol E]
Gymnastics is inherently subjective.
They should have had another routine after that.
I'd say that no matter what countries tied.
On a side note, Nastia kicked the Chinese girl's ass.
