I'm alittle supriesed that Boston signed Wakefield again, he was less than dominate last year.  However, they did not sign David Ross, Jason Varitek and Alex Cora.  Boston, if you give the over the hills Wakefield another season why not your captain?

Jason's catching ability and leadership role would be more valuable than his hitting even if his averagage was .093


As a catcher, Varitek is only average. It's his ability to control a game without a coach's help is what makes him so alluring.

THats what I'm talking about, that rare skill and his leadership ability outweighs his offensive flaws
