They decide to get pissy with you and demand that you begin to pay for your own car insurance...but they still own the car and can, really, do whatever they want with it -- restrict your usage of it, restrict where you can go, take it back, etc. Fair?

Would you?  I mean, why would you pay $100's a month for something just so someone else gets to use it.  I wouldn't.. that's just a bad investment, don't you think? If I were you, I'd talk some sense into your parents and tell them to get rid of the money drain.  Tell them to use that money to have a nice dinner out once a month or so.  Now THAT would be fair. okumsup Posted at 8:57 pm on July 23, 2008 that's fair.. thats more than fair, it's their car, they probably pay gas, they pay their own insurance, and your probably paying insurance as a 'temp driver' or what not..
