I am (trying) to get into game development (the technology side) after I get out of college and I'm building my own graphics engine in C++ as portfolio work.

I know this stuff appies to art related careers as well. Do you have a career path in mind like this?

Yes, my career is just like this as well. It's media related and job opportunities do not depend on college degrees whatsoever. Nobody even asks. They just want to see your work and that's what takes you somewhere. That and connections, of course.

A side hobby of mine is web designing and for something like that I had a portfolio on site and also a deviantart profile
