Usually on job applications, they asks you what is your desired wages, is it better to enter an amount thats slightly above average to show that you're an ambitious worker or would it be better to enter an amount thats slightly below average to show that you're not greedy? What do you guys usually put down for that section?

When I worked at this store, I used to hang out with the manager(lol lame). And she would not even bother interviewing people if they wanted too much.
