My left hand is permanently stuck in a gripping position.

Someone also spilled the entire bottle of french dressing onto the floor and all down the side of my bar.

Honestly, working in retail will teach you what patience really means.

Fucking dicks.

I cut some celery and I liked it. I hope my boyfriend don't mind it.

HAha, I'm glad my co-workers and I are not the only ones skimming food from work.
We have this huge box in the cooler where we keep food we've stolen. And we constantly take candy and things, because the produce/salad bar dept is right next to the Jelly Belly stand.

We're the only ones that can get away with it. Seafood and meat department can't eat any of their own product since it's raw, and the deli has three cameras over top. As does the bakery. But for some reason, our department didn't get any cameras. Not that they watch them anyway.

Where do you work? Your work sounds delicious.

Ice cream shop
No matter what I always have something while I work and I can just drop buy and pick my self up something if I want too. It's nice.
We have one camera that only stores the last 24hours. And our boss only looks at it when there is money missing from the register. And it is pointed exclusively on the register not the store. Weeeeee

Thats a lot of celery. Where do you work?

In a grocery store. I work the salad bar/produce, and floral.
But today it was like every single customer was just walking over to push my buttons.

As if spilling dressing wasn't enough, this lady bumped into our olive oil display and broke a bunch of bottles.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to get olive oil up completely off of a laminate floor?
  I hope she felt horrible.

I worked at a grocery store for 3 years in high school.

I do know how hard it is. One time, a guy at my store I worked at tried to sweep up the olive oil....*facepalm*

Hehe, a few days ago, the produce manager (who is 21, the youngest manager in the history of our company) was pulling in a load of fresh produce, and knocked into the same display. Two days later, he did it again. We're not allowed to move it though, because the company pays to have it in that particular spot.
Too bad about $50 worth of that company's product has been broken and spilled across the floor.
I am moving it myself if it's not slid back at least two feet by next week. I am absolutely sick of having to clean it up.

We have this stuff called Spill Magic that is great for oil spills. It soaks it right up. But we shouldn't have to use all of that stuff in the first place.
And afterwards, the department smells horrible.

I love spill magic! Its the best/coolest stuff ever.

Oh god, we always have rotten strawberries all the time too. There are weeks when I know I can eat our strawberries or not. This past week was the best strawberries we've ever had so I had a little cup of sugar I would dip them in and eat while I chopped them last time

I get to chop strawberries at work.

  I chop everything.
Quite literally every single vegetable and fruit we have, I've cut.

Sometimes I'll get a little bit creative with our desserts and make something up. People go crazy over strawberry topped anything.

Seriously, ever day someone is like, OMG DO YOU HAVE CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES. and I'm like no, go away.

I don't have to cut anything much except strawberries(every shift) and brownies every once and a while.
But I hate scraping chocolate off of the floors :(

Ugh, we had so many people ask us last week for "the strawberries from last week". Everyone wanted to know what was so good about them, if they were some special kind.
I had to bite my tongue to keep from telling them that about 60% of the strawberries from that week were rotten.

This one little old lady told me that she wanted them because she put them in her cereal every morning, and told me they make her day worth going through.

Strawberries are the shit, apparently.

why?

Cos it's what I get paid to do.
It's not a bad job or anything. I love everything about it (except having to bring in the soup...those things get hot and we don't have protection from the scalding metal pots they're in).

Retail?  Cutting celery sounds like a foodie job.

Anywho, I know what retail can do to you, but I enjoy my coworkers, so I enjoy my job.  It's a social thing really in a tiny store like mine.
