Tomorrow I plan to ask for a raise. I am currently making minimum wage and Ive been working for 7 months now. Here is what I plan to say to the store owner.

Hey Ive been working here for 7 months now for minimum wage. Ive been doing some looking around and most jobs offered X amount. Do you think you can match that because Id much rather continue working here. Thanks.

Is that a good way to ask? Any suggestions?

If you have only been working there for a few months, I wouldn't suggest it.

I'd ask for a raise after a year. Isn't that how it usually is?

I think that seems appropriate.
