There was a birthday party at work today. I work at a barn. It was a 10 year old's birthday party, and so we gave pony rides to her and her 10 guests.

I do not enjoy giving pony rides. Especially when the horse I lead, Champ, tries to kill you the whole time. He's super safe for little kids, but he HATES being led around like he doesn't know what he's doing, so he's constantly trying to bite me and kick at my feet.

I can't very well smack him hard enough to tell him no (just imagine the horrified child "WHY ARE YOU HITTING THE PONY?!?!" ) So instead I get to suck it up and tell the kid "He's just playing. He's very excited!"

He got me good today. I have a lovely bruise on my shin. That bastard. I get to do it again next weekend for another birthday party, too! Dibs on leading Tinkerbell.
