| umm maybe its your power consumption, maybe upgrade your PSU. And when you updated the drivers you should have uninstalled the previous drivers first as several people have had this problem before. I got a 9800gtx and its awesome, consumes less power and is slighty more powerful. maybe you can try getting a new card as that might be an issue as the new drivers might have damaged it |

| Well, I am sure it isn't a driver issue now. I got it fixed and every game BUT Left 4 Dead works. It might be the game. |

Can you system restore? I really should have mentioned that a while ago.
I hate system restore, but I work at a computer store, so if worst comes to worst I can Ghost it. |

| Quote: from drifting at 11:10 pm on Nov. 25, 2008 x64 normally has slightly (ever so slightly) less stable drivers. Did you update XP to SP3? Yeah, all my updates are current. Except Windows Search 4.0. It is useless. |

Ok, thats weird, XP normally has solid drivers. Are you x64? Its possibly a card failure, but your symptoms dont really match. BIOS settings (for the motherboard, not the card) make sure theres nothing weird going on there...
I am not in x64, but even if I was the updated driver is for both that and my normal XP. I'll try a few more things then post again if I have problems.

Uhm, what OS are you on? Is it at all possible the card is faulty? Are you using nTune? Have you tried slightly under-clocking the card?
Windows XP. I haven't had trouble with the card ever, but it might be a possibility. I don't know what nTune is. I haven't even overclocked the card.

BIOS settings (for the motherboard, not the card) make sure theres nothing weird going on there... I was thinking under-clocking it (which would be like over-clocking, but you would lower the speed instead, which would reduce heat and performance issues) just because that would verify that its not heat. Since you dont have experience with clock speed, I would recommend you just not try right now. (but when you get it working, play with it some, its good to know) nTune is a utility for adjusting clock speed. |

| I do not have an onboard VGA port, just the card, but I will try it anyway. |

I use RivaTuner to overclock my card. Becareful when using these kind of applications, they could mess with your system more than you already describe.
I haven't used anything to overclock my card. You are not helping me any. I now see why Livewire is willing to give out donations for support. This topic is fucking raging me.
You sure it's not your power supply fan or cpu fan? get into the BIOS and see if they get readings. This PC I'm on sometimes resets itself also while playing Enemy Territory. When I reboot and go into the BIOS, i see that the power supply fan speed wont register and that the cpu temp is in red. I just let it rest for a bit whileI go on the other pc and do my thing there before coming back on this machine. |

| Reinstall your video card drivers. Do you have onboard? Switch to that, remove every video card drive related and then a clean install. |
