I installed the drivers for the new card and then installed it into the desired PCI-E slot. When i rebooted the computer screen was completely discolored and cracked out and could barely make out any text. Does anyone know what went wrong here?

Have you installed the latest nvidia drivers? drifting Posted at 5:19 pm on April 11, 2008 Make sure that the mobo is set to enable the slot, the power connector is connected (I dont think that the 8600 requires one though) and that your PSU is large enough.
