i made a connection to it
its just one of those switches that like
to be difficult.
its alot harder to work with than the
2900xl switch lol
anyways, i'm just trying to still configure it
and its not going too well

Sorry I thought it was an HP procurve.... if it was it would have come with lifetime warranty possibly. Cisco's dont have a fault light as such. Do you have the cisco console cable for it? If not grab one and hyperterm into the switch see if u get to the cisco promt.

i'm not sure vitamin. i looked up that the switch used catos and so i'll have to learn a whole new os but i have figured out some stuff and found very little online. on the post, everything works. i dont know about the warranty on it because cisco is difficult to look for old stuff in

Do you have a fault light on that switch? It maybe worth connecting that to your PC through the console port and resetting it. If you cant do that then you are going to have to send it away. Isn't there lifetime warranty on that?

Now I know a lot about electronics, and I even own a computer repair business....

But you have officially confused me.

you've never heard of hubs or switches?

and i have no idea what your problem is.  buy a new one.

After searching google, yes I gathered that it was an ethernet switch for large networks.

I do not have much experience with large networks.
