Ignore all the assholes that say Macs are for kids, because that's just not true. Pros - Highly unlikely you'd get a virus because as of this minute only proof of concept ones exist which require you to act like a buffoon to get them to install. - Easy to use interface - Applications can be 'installed' very easily, just drag and drop them into a folder - Lots of free applications (that are actually really good). - A rock sold operating system founded on FreeBSD, very rarely does the actual OS ever crash. - A beautifully designed machine. - Compatible with a wide variety of scanners, printers, phones, etc, all out of the box. - Comes with free software like iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, iDVD, Comic Life (that would otherwise be shareware). - Great customer support and service - The best brick and mortar store shopping experience you'll get, the staff there are very helpful. Cons - It can only be run on a Apple branded computer (barring some hackery). - Apple computers are more expensive than their PC equivalent counterparts, it's just something you have to put up with. You get what you pay for, excellence. - There aren't as many video games made for it as for Windows, so PC gaming enthusiasts often don't posses Macs, or are sensible and buy gaming consoles. - The OS doesn't have that much marketshare when compared to Windows, so there may be University of school provided software that won't run on Macs, or equally something you're looking for. There are usually plenty of good alternative however. That's all I can think of at the moment that jump out at me. I'll add some if it comes to my mind.

Windows comes with programs like iMovie/iDVD/iWhatever.
Best brick and mortar experience will never be from a chain store, a small locally owned place always beats out a faceless corporation.
OS crashes just as much as Windows, assuming the Windows user isn't an idiot.
Windows has more free software, plenty of it is good.
Windows also has an easy to use interface.
Windows also has a high-compatibility rate with camera, printers, scanners and so on.
PCs have designs that are just as good and better than Apple.
As far as getting hacked or getting a virus goes just download a simple virus/firewall program like Avast(free) and Spybot for Spyware(also free). Honestly getting hacked or a virus comes from not paying attention. Also any computer can be hacked.
