Summary: I need to copy my files to and external HD through my install disk. Mac gurus. help would be appreciated if you could help me fix my laptop.
You could make a disk with Ultimate Boot CD or even use a Linux Live CD, and then copy your files over to your external HDD.
Another thing you could do is just take it into an Apple store and make them help you with it. Avoid letting them charge you anything by just getting someone in the store to walk you through it.

You could TRY it with a PC then...but I don't know how well it would work since they're a bit shoddy anyway.
Sorry, that's the best advice I have for you. :/
You can't access it at all?
If you have a friend w/another Mac & a Firewire cord, hook up your Macs via the Firewire cord, boot up your friend's Mac, then yours, but hold down the "T" key. This will make your MacBook a hard drive that you can access with your friend's Mac.
If you want to move your stuff to the external HDD, just plug it into the USB on your friend's Mac.
After you move everything, you can easily wipe your MacBook HDD with the Leopard install disks.
Hopefully I covered everything. Let me know if it works.
