The RC stops working in April next year... As for what to do in your case, well, if you are going to the trouble of re-installing anyway why not try out Windows 7 and see how you get on with it. If you don't like it switch back to whatever else you want. Of course, this does mean that come April you will need to re-install again, but by the sounds of it you probably would anyway.
Oh, okay. I didn't want to look up that date. What I meant to say was that regardless of what you do, the RC will be deactivated some time in the future and there is no easy upgrade path from the RC to the release (MS has already said that). So it will be a pain come next April... Just wait three-four months and install windows 7. It has a really easy upgrade path from vista anyways, so if you want, install vista now and upgrade in October. |

It's not worth installing Windows 7 RC now because Windows 7 is coming out so soon. (Doesn't the RC get deactivated in August?). Also Windows 7 is coming out in October. Wait until then to get the actual thing.

OS X Leopard.
Too many driver issues with normal hardware. I am just sticking with XP until October when Win7 is supposed to go retail. |

Does the apple OSX operating system perform well on a PC? They've only been designed for macs, so there's going to be some problems running it on a PC isn't there?
Biggest issue here is that it is illegal. However, I think you should be addressing other things here. I normally find I want to install every year and a half or so to keep my machine running well. So it sounds like you are doing something a little odd, either that or expecting better performance out of not such good hardware. |

I work as an editor, and in our publications lab we have a couple of computers that are PC's and that's what they're running. The biggest thing is the command button's missing. It runs pretty smoothly. It's definitely not the same as a mac though. |

Windows 7 isn't really finished yet. I would suggest just getting XP Pro. 54
I think windows 7 is more finished than vista was when they decided to release that. Windows 7 is supposedly faster than Vista and XP. I might dual boot XP and windows 7 just so i can switch back easily if i run into any problems with windows 7. Although to be honest, i've been using XP for the past 5 years, and i spend far to much time on my PC as it is. It would be nice to try something different, Vista and Windows 7 is so much easier and nicer to look at. |

| Plus, Vista is actually pretty heavy, not that great on your processor. 54 |
